AT LEAST ONE CHURCH SCHOOL REACHES THE $10 MILLION MARK IN DIRECT FEDERAL PER CAPITA FUNDING 117 CHURCH SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE OVER $5 MILLION IN FEDERAL PER CAPITA FUNDING IN 2006
Australian church schools are thriving under the largesse of federal and state government funding. Year 1981 was the year when a church school first made the $1 million federal per capita funding mark. In 2006 DOGS believe that at least one school will receive at least $10 million in federal per capita grants alone. This school is Christ Catholic College, (Clare Campus) Hassell Grove, Diocese of Parramatta, New South Wales It is estimated that in 2006, 117 church schools will receive more than $5 million each in per capita federal funds alone, and another 120 church schools will receive between $4 million and $5 million in federal recurrent grants in 2006. Readers should note that DOGS found the first reported $1 million federal funded per capita church school in the Green Book of November 1982. A perusal of that book indicated that, in the calendar year 1981, at p. 62, Emmaus College, Burwood Victoria received $1,075,786 million in federal per capita recurrent funds.
