AT LEAST ONE CHURCH SCHOOL REACHES THE $10 MILLION MARK IN DIRECT FEDERAL PER CAPITA FUNDING

117 CHURCH SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE OVER $5 MILLION IN FEDERAL PER CAPITA  FUNDING IN 2006

Australian church schools are thriving under the largesse of federal and state government funding.

Year 1981 was the year when a church school first made the $1 million federal per capita funding mark. In 2006 DOGS believe that at least one school will receive at least $10 million in federal per capita grants alone. This school is Christ Catholic College, (Clare Campus) Hassell Grove, Diocese of Parramatta, New South Wales

It is estimated that in 2006, 117 church schools will receive more than $5 million each in per capita federal funds alone, and another 120 church schools will receive between $4 million and $5 million in federal recurrent grants in 2006.

Readers should note that DOGS found the first reported $1 million federal funded per capita church school in the Green Book of November 1982. A perusal of that book indicated that, in the calendar year 1981, at p. 62, Emmaus College, Burwood Victoria received $1,075,786 million in federal per capita recurrent funds.

The enormity of the increase in federal per capita funding which had been introduced in the 1970 calendar year can be found by considering the following:

  • In 1970 2,744 church schools received $24.272 million in total but in 2006,  three church schools combined will receive in excess of that amount in per capita funds alone.

  • In 1970 in New South Wales 790 church schools received $9.002 million in total . In 2006 one school will receive in excess of that amount.

  • In 1970, in Victoria, 581 church schools received $7.847 million in total,  but in 2006, five separate church schools will each receive in excess of that amount.

  • In 1970 in Queensland, 342 church schools received $3.647 million in total, but in 2006, forty seven separate church schools will each receive in excess of that amount.

  • In 1970 in South Australia, 170 church schools received $1.52 million in total, but in 2006, thirteen separate schools will each receive at least $ 4 million each.

  • In 1970 in Western Australia, 196 church schools received $1.695 million in total, but in 2006, 23 church schools will each receive at least $4 million each.

  • In 1970 in Tasmania, 65 church schools received $0.56 million in total , but in 2006 two church schools will receive in excess of $ 4 million each.

The sectarians have well and truly invaded the Australian public treasury.
