or half a century DOGS have argued that State Aid to private schools was not only bad social policy, educating those able to pay for the first class ticket to heaven and the good job. It would, in the end, prove disastrous if not stupid - economically.
The dissembling, false claims, scare mongering and misuse of statistics by the private and religious school sector over the last fifty years is now under scrutiny from another group that include statistics experts - the Save Our Schools gurus.
Australian parents, especially aspirational parents who believe the hype of private schools - are caught in an impossible situation. If they can’t afford the fees of private schools – who only want those who can pay, pray, or perform, they run the risk of losing – everything!
For the last fifty years DOGS have contended that privatisation means abdication of Ministerial responsibility for the expenditure of taxpayer moneys. We have little trust in our political system to keep the bastards honest. But has State Aid to private religious schools also meant the muzzling of the Office of the Auditor General?
Since the 1960s DOGS have claimed that State Aid to private religious schools was too expensive- both uneconomic and divisive.
Now, those espousing various versions of the ‘Needs’ policy are confronted by the figures. Consider the ACER research at http://research.acer.edu.au/aer/14 and http://www.smh.com.au/national/education/education-experts-say-2-billion...
ree public education has existed for more than a century in Australia, and Abbott and Pyne through their think tanks, are attempting to change this.
